Weekly Equities Report – 16 Jul 2021

The week gone by was preceded by a week of uncertainty. However, markets touched new record highs on multiple occasions this week as Sensex gained 1.41% and Nifty50 gained 1.49% over this week. As has been happening for many weeks, Nifty Smallcap outperformed with a big 4.2% leap while Nifty Midcap index topped up with 1.71% gains.
Among the sectors, Nifty realty leaped ahead with a staggering 8.58% gains, followed by a distant IT(2.57%) and metals(2.23%). The only two sectors to end the week with losses were media(-1.32%) and PSU banks(-0.26%).
In CNX500, the top gainers were CDSL(37.7%) and ANGELBRKG(31.8%) whereas, AEGISCHEM(-14.4%) and HFCL(-9.8%) were the top losers.
In Nifty50, the top gainers were WIPRO(9.9%) and L&T(7.95%). ADANIPORTS(5.6%) continued to slide down accompanied by ZEEL(-7.65%) this week as the two were the top losers.
Over the week, MCDOWELL-N and SUNCLAYLTD were lapped up the most by investors as they saw a 45.5x and 26.5x spike in deliverable quantities.
FIIs were again the net sellers of Rs.2667cr worth shares(30% higher than previous week) and DIIs bought a net of Rs.3233cr worth of shares as against Rs.92cr of last week.
