Weekly Equities Report – 30 Jul 2021
The week gone by looks very familiar to the week before and the week prior to that week. Volatility is the word. After a sharp correction early in the week, the market recovered well like it has done on every occasion in the last two months.
For the week, Sensex closed 0.73% down at 52,587 and Nifty50 closed 0.59% lower at 15,763. Nifty Smallcaps(1.11%) and midcaps(0.84%) outperformed the benchmark indices once again.
Nifty metals(7.78%) was the star performer of the week with a distant media(2.39%) and IT(1.96%) sectors at second and third respectively.
In CNX500, MAHLOG(26%) and JKPAPER(19%) were the top gainers whereas, APLLTD(-16.78%) and SUZLON(-14.29%) were the top losers.
In Nifty50, HINDALCO(13.54%) and VEDL(12.71%) gained the most. POWERGRID(-26.55%) and DRREDDY(-13.11%) were the top losers.
SWANENERGY(41.2x) and ELGIEEQUIP(40.8x) saw the highest change in deliverables.
For the week, FIIs were the net sellers throughout and it totalled to Rs.10825cr worth of shares being sold whereas, DIIs bought a net of Rs.8206cr worth of shares.
